ABOUT
Artist & Researcher
Daniel Romero Nieto | DARONI is an artist and researcher. His work follows how form takes shape through encounters between matter, perception, the body and space - and how those encounters can become knowledge.

Matter Before Disciplines
Romero Nieto's relationship with matter began before architecture, science or artistic research gave it a language.
It came through construction materials, tools and surfaces: through weight, porosity, resistance, absorption and fracture.
He first learned matter by touching it, changing it and watching what happened.

One Inquiry Across Scales
Architecture, scientific inquiry and art did not become separate identities. Each offered another way of looking at the same recurring problem. The objects changed. The scale changed. The attention to relations did not.
Across Morphogenesis, Liquid Fragmentation and Architecture of the Scar, the work moves through different materials and conditions while returning to the same concern: how form appears, loses stability and reorganizes.

Art as a Way of Knowing
Painting, drawing, relief, sculpture, installation, writing and exhibition-making are not illustrations of ideas decided beforehand.
They are ways of putting a question under pressure.
Material resists. Repetition exposes a pattern. An accident can redirect the work. A finished piece can reveal something that was not visible at the beginning.
For DARONI, the artwork becomes an instrument for thinking.

Embodied Perception
Embodied Perception - Percepción Encarnada - grew from this trajectory. It extends the practice toward a more explicit investigation of how perception is shaped through the body, and how experience can become form and knowledge.

Perceptual Architectures
Within this research, neurodivergence is not the subject of the work. It opens a broader question about how different ways of attending, connecting and experiencing the world may produce different forms of knowledge.
Romero Nieto uses the term perceptual architectures for this developing line of inquiry. The concept is exploratory and remains under investigation.
What kinds of knowledge can emerge from different ways of attending, connecting and experiencing the world?
"The question came first. The disciplines provided different languages. The practice continues the inquiry."
